I recently opened an account with Bank of America. I used a debit card online to provide verification to a lady that I was not a sex-offender. As soon as I had given my debit card number. I got a funny feeling that all was not kosher, so jumped into the car and presented myself & debit card to an associate at my local bank! Although there had been less that five minutes elapsed, there were two charges on the card totaling over $70.oo. The bank squashed them as soon as I told them what had happened, and gave me a different card number. Scissors
wereput through the old card. Today, I checked my balance, and saw that there was about $40.oo less in my account than I had expected. It turned out that someone had somehow, (God knows how, for I have NEVER used that new card since I got it for ANYTHING!)got hold of my debit card number, and had charged a subscription to a company calling itself, "MPROP.net." The bank gave me the phone number of this company, 1(877) 483-4045 I called and was told that I had taken out a subscription to a web-site. I asked, and was told it was a porn site. I told this person that it was a fraudulent transaction, and that I had no interest in such things. He assured me a refund would be in the mail to my bank, He did ask for the first six digits of my debit card, as well as the last four, and I gave him these as I was intending to block the card as soon as I hung up on him. Which I did! Then I got an e-mail from Jettis, telling me my subscription had been canceled. So these scumbags were involved in trying to rip me off as well! My Debit card was successfully blocked by Bank of America, but I do not know HOW they got hold of the number, for my card was issued new to me after the first one was compromised, and I have not used it for ANYTHING! Not even to make a retail purchase! So when I go to get my third debit card form Bank of America, I am going to see if there are any additional safeguards I can get that will prevent anyone who hacks into their system from using my card. So, my fellow sufferers, guard your credit & debit card numbers with your life! I am going to go to the police with this one, for I want to know WHO got hold of my number and most importantly, HOW!

A family member posted on Facebook about having made 122 dollars in one day, and posted a link. I followed the link to a site that Set you up for posting links or something for Google. Though I did fill out most of the order form....including some debitcard info, I stopped, checked the EULA, and went back to the website to cancel, and though no Submit button (Or any other that I may have thought to be one ) was clicked on, the transaction was acknowledged, and duly deducted from my debit Card($3.95). And so was $74.++....a few days later.
My bank gave me the phone number of the merchant that billed me. When I called, and demanded a refund, the very first question was: "May I have the first 6 digits of your credit card".......I refused that request and once again demanded that my request be processed by my name. They complied, so since they hadn't gained my trust, I cancelled that card....after withdrawing all available balance.....and requested a new one.

I wish they would get rid of it already! I get mad when I am flipping through channels trying to find something entertaining to watch on a Saturday night and accidentally stumble upon it. It's like that ugly ass outfit you might have in your closet that keeps turning up when you're trying to find something nice to wear. Just an unnecessary nuissance.

I agree. They have a talented cast but the writing is terrible. And Andy Sandberg is trying too hard to come up with another "dick in the box" like success with his digital shorts. Last nights digital short was atrocious.

Not that it's a good excuse, but they do this because this enables them to make an appliance that will essentially work in all markets. For example, a customer in the US just purchases the US version of the power cord and the customers in the UK, India, China, etc purchase their respective cords but the appliances themselves are all exactly the same.

Cisco does this with routers and switches.

I got mine after a long wait. My box was damaged too and the "free over the door hanger" was bent. I was able to bend it back to shape but that is ridiculous.

Great post! You definitely covered all the bases.

I used to sell appliances for HH Gregg a few years ago, and it really has changed since I left the company. And I think you did good by avoiding Sears.

Home Depot is not a bad place to buy appliances from. From what I have seen it is a great company to work for, and that is reflected in the attitudes of their employees.

I didn't know she still lived with her mom in a 3 bedroom home. That is just plain ridiculous. Doctors need to start taking some damn responsibility. The human body is just not made to have "litters" of children like that.
